USA TODAY - Hear the good stuff that almost got away

With thousands of albums to process each year, USA TODAY's critics inevitably run out of room to review all the good ones. So before the fall crush begins next week, we share a few of our favorites from recent months.

Ken Barnes: • Anyone who has the nerve to call his back-up band the International Jewish Banking Conspiracy would seem to be worth a listen. Dan Bern's Fleeting Days (* * * ½) is worth several; his wicked barrage of verbiage is second to none. •Anny Celsi is similarly clever on Little Black Dress & Other Stories (* * *), and the music is consistently strong to boot.
